FAQ

Accommodation
  • Is the accommodation accessible?

The accommodation has many different units and chalets with varying accessibility.  When you register for the accommodation we will ask questions so we can appropriately allocate you to a suitable room.  Note this is campsite type accommodation and there could be some sharing of rooms, in bunk beds, sharing of bathroom facilities and some small distances to kitchen and other facilities.

Transport
  • Can I book the shuttles if I am not staying at Lakeland Park?

Yes, the price is $20 per day per person. However, this is dependent on how many people take up the accommodation/shuttle package. Information will be provided closer to the time.

  • What other transport options are available?

Tickets can be purchased for The Remarkables Bus. More info is available here.

  • Are there free shuttles available from the airport to the accommodation?

No, you will need to organise your own transport to your accommodation whether that is at Lakeland Park or at your own privately booked accommodation. There is a WhatsApp group which can offer support if you get stuck.

Equipment
  • What equipment is available during the weekend?

We have a number of mono-skis, bi-skis, outriggers, ski links, high vis bibs and blankets. If you require any other equipment you may contact us before the festival to further discuss your options. For more information on adaptive equipment, please visit our website here

Activities
  • What other activities are there to do during the festival?

Halberg Foundation are exploring extra opportunities such as curling, ice hockey, Ice Sledge Hockey, Ice Bumper Cars or Clip and Climb, to name a few. These will be confirmed on the festival program closer to the time, along with any cost details (if any).

Snow Sports NZ also host a fun race on the last day of the festival where participants can test their new skills in a timed course to race against the clock or their friends with prizes to be won!

  • What social activities are planned as part of the festival?

We are currently exploring the possibility of a festival welcome party and group dinner. Details will be confirmed in the festival program closer to the time.

Lessons
  • How many free lessons will I get?

We will do our best to accommodate first timers/ beginners with 1x free (1 hour) private lesson.

If you are a beginner, we recommend contacting The Remarkables in advance to book additional lessons (these will be at your own cost and there may be limited availability during the festival).
